Territory Acknowledgement

As a fourth generation European settler, I would like to acknowledge my privilege to live and work in the Treaty territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) people. As a Chartered Professional in Human Resources, I would also like to acknowledge the systemic racism within and throughout the Human Resources field across this land and commit to ongoing education regarding the impact of colonialism on First Nations People and training and reflection in cultural sensitivity and humility.

I would also like to acknowledge the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) which affirms, “fundamental importance of the right to self-determination of all peoples, by virtue of which they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development,” and commit to providing culturally safe care.
